Privacy Policy

Overview

WordPanic respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the game experience.

Sign-In Providers

You may choose to sign in using Google, Microsoft, or Discord. When you do, we request only the minimum scopes required — your basic profile information (name and email address) — solely to create and identify your WordPanic account. We do not request access to your contacts, files, calendar, email content, or any other personal data beyond what is needed to authenticate you.

Account Linking

You can link multiple sign-in providers to a single WordPanic account (e.g., Google and Discord). When you link a provider, we store only the provider identifier needed to recognize you. Linking is optional and can be managed in your account settings.

What We Store

When you create an account, we store a unique user ID, your chosen nickname, game statistics (scores, rounds played, match history), competitive ratings, solo progress, and achievements. We do not store your sign-in provider password — authentication is handled entirely by those providers.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to: (1) reserve your nickname so others cannot impersonate you, (2) display your stats and rankings on the leaderboard, (3) match you with similarly skilled opponents in competitive play, and (4) restore your progress when you return. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the game.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Your nickname, game statistics, competitive rating, and achievements may be visible to other players on public leaderboards and profiles. No other personal data is made public.

Data Retention

We retain your account and game statistics for as long as your account exists. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

Cookies & Storage

WordPanic uses browser session storage to pass your nickname between pages during a single session. We do not use third-party tracking cookies. Authentication session tokens may be stored in browser local storage to keep you signed in.
